Augmentative and alternative communication means using a different way to communicate besides spoken language. The SKIP Clinic therapists may use low-tech, mid-tech, and high-tech options keeping your child’s individual strengths and abilities in mind. Low-tech options may include gestures, sign language, or pointing to pictures. Mid-tech options may include a Big Mack by Ablenet or a Go Talk. High-tech options may include use of a touchscreen device with a voice, sometimes referred to as a speech generating device.
