Happy Graduation & HELLO Summer !
The Special Learning Center recently held our annual graduation ceremony for 18 students. The graduates will attend several area schools for kindergarten in the fall. All of us at the Special Learning Center feel blessed to have been a part of these children’s lives. We are so proud of their progress and wish them all the very best.
Our summer school session runs from June 2 – June 26. We look forward to a fun-filled summer at SLC! Happy Summer to all!!
Our 6th annual Moments of Magic event was held on February 27. The event, featuring comedy illusionist Joseph Tran, raised more than $35,000 for the Special Learning Center Foundation. Thanks to all our generous sponsors and volunteers for helping make this event successful! Thanks also to all who joined us for another magical night celebrating the Special Learning Center. This month at SLC, the children will be learning all about community workers. We will have visits from the JC Police and paramedics and walk to the nearby fire station. We will also take field trips to Lauf Equipment to ride tractors. On April 25, the 8th annual Capital City Cookoff Buck-A-Bone event will take place at the Cole County Fairgrounds. Come out for a night of ribs and entertainment! This event benefits the Special Learning Center. The tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the SLC.
It’s cold outside – so here at the Special Learning Center, we have to find ways to enjoy the indoors. Some of our children have been ice skating and bowling and we’ve had music time with Cowboy Tom and story time with Liz. We will also enjoy story time with the Missouri River Regional Library and Barnes & Noble in the next month.
We are excited about our upcoming magic show this winter. Our Moments of Magic event will be held on Thursday, February 27 at the Miller Performing Arts Center. Tickets for the show featuring comedic illusionist Joseph Tran, are on sale now. You can order tickets by calling SLC at 573-634-3070. The wonderful event benefits the Special Learning Center Foundation.
During the Christmas season, we would like to express to you our sincere appreciation for all those who make the Special Learning Center special: the children, families, volunteers, donors and staff. We are deeply thankful and extend to you our best wishes for a very Merry Christmas and many blessings in the New Year!
